That's not much of everything

I've always thought the expression, "Likes everything from _____ to _____" when talking about music is hilarious, because it seems like the only people who use it are folks who mostly listen to one kind of music but are desperate to make it sound like they're open-minded and free-thinking and unpredictable in their tastes.

Case in point is this description of Piazza New York Catcher's at-bat music from this ridiculous ESPN article:

Piazza likes everything from Zeppelin to Van Halen to Black Sabbath to AC/DC. If he is slumping, he'll come up to the DJ booth and request something new.
Wow! What an amazingly wide range of musical tastes he has! He likes everything from hard rock bands of the '70's to hard rock bands of the early '80's! "Request something new" probably means he asks for something radically different like Def Leppard or Sammy Hagar-era Van Halen. You know...to mix it up.

If Piazza really had a sense of humor, he'd come to the plate with gentle guitar strumming and Stuart Murdoch's voice singing quietly, "Piazza New York catcher are you straight or are you gay?"

Oh, and when they say "Zeppelin", that is Led Zeppelin they're referring to, right? I'm never completely sure. I guess they could be referring to Darth Zeppelin or The Zeppelins of Distinction or The Beautiful Zeppelin, in which case I take back all my sarcasm about Piazza's meager range of musical taste.
