They're all records and albums, but only vinyl is vinyl

I tagged along with Ivaner and Xtian last night as they went to Orpheus in Clarendon to satiate their newly-found sweet tooth (teeth?) for vinyl. I can heartily recommend it. Round up the kids and knock on the neighbors door and head over there. While the entire store is full of sweet nostalgia and unintended hilarity, you can just give a cursory look over the overpriced (usually at least $18) new releases, and head to the very back, where the delights of the dollar bin are kept. Not needing any vinyl, it was still noteworthy for the day when I want a few more records to put up on my wall. There were decent-quality copies of Sparkle In The Rain (left in the bin, but I'll pick it up one of these days), Born In The USA (went to Xtian), and East Side Story (I think Ivan got that one). It was a classic night of fun for the whole family...just keep the kids away from Carly Simon's nipples.

You put records on your walls?

So why are there stores devoted entirely to vinyl records, but none (that I've heard of, at least) devoted strictly to eight tracks?
