Who are the people in your gayborhood?

Last night, I came home and started up some laundry. I ate some cheese and crackers (I'm the king of nutrition!) for dinner, turned on the baseball game, watched the first inning, paused the DVR, walked 50 feet from my front door and stood in a crowd in the rain and drizzle to watch drag queens race down the street in high heels, dressed as everything from Condoleeza Rice to the Washington Monument (?), turned around, went back in and resumed the baseball game.

God, I love my new neighborhood.

Condoleeza Rice was dressed in drag! Man, that is news! Anyway, just saw this linked off wonkette:

Are those the dragsters you were talking about?

Yeah, that's them. I was trying to make it sound like it happened all the time. Thanks for ruining the illusion!

I'm kidding, of course.

It really was fun, in spite of the rain. Everyone's cheering and dancing and whistling, and when the race started, the cheering was an outright roar. Sure as hell beats the parades down my street in Old Town.
