What I did on my summer vacation

The following list is an accurate sum of the things that I've thought about over the last week:

  •
  •
  •
As a result, my brain is still restarting, and it could take a while. So don't expect any of the usual wit and wisdom that you find here at Are Seven. Ha ha! That was a joke.

I did come to one conclusion over the course of my beach week, and that was that it's summer. Summer means a lot of things, like longer nights, baseball and having your clothes stick to you after walking ten feet outside. But it also means the inevitable changing of your music pallate, as your desire for quiet and shadowy music gives way to a craving for songs as sunny as the days and upbeat as your libido*.

To indulge your jones, here's some quality summertime listening for when you're driving in your car with the windows open, having an outdoor party, or just feeling happy because it feels good to wear less clothes:

Camera Obscura, "Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken"
Besides being one of the best song titles in recent memory, this is primo Camera Obscura. If my summer is as lovely as this song, I'll be a changed man for the better in September.

The Little Ones, "Lovers Who Uncover"
It's a little more rawk than I normally go for, but it's custom-made for the launching of a fun day, whenever that might be and whatever it may bring.

Islands, "If"
This is the lazy summer day song, when it's just too hot to dance around, or the party's winding down, or enjoying the sticky hot calm of a summer night after a scorching day. This is a nice album for those people who like their indiepop with an experimental flavor.

Office, "Wound Up"
If you hurry, you can still catch this song as the free download on the iTunes music store. I can't offer it here because of the &%!#$ iTunes DRM, but it's nice enough to go grab.

* You see a dramatic increase in this department come summer if you're anything like me. Which I hope to hell you're not, for a heap of reasons.

I am really digging Office. They are supposed to play NYC at some point this summer, which would please me greatly. Oh, and you're welcome for The Style Council :)
