Voting is for old people
Alright! Alright! Fine! I've gotten too many emails today begging me to slather last night's election results with my unique flavor of political opinion to resist anymore. Please, people! I'll tell you what I think! Just give my inbox a break. It's wheezing from the strain.
Here it is: it was lovely. There were some surprisingly great melodies, and the slight touches of piano made it, and her heartbreaking voice still gets to me, years after "That's All There Is" struck me immediately. Highly recommended.
Oh, sorry. I keep getting my thoughts on last night's election results confused with my review of the new Nina Nastasia album.
Take two: I'm relieved. Not really very happy, because every time I try to get excited about the Dems, they keep proving themselves to be exactly the sorts of wishy-washy blandness that pushes so many people away. But conservatives in this country had gotten out of control, and I can let out a sigh of relief to know that there are still a few good thinkers in this country; people who had gotten so disgusted with the outrageous, indecent, anti-constitutional stance of conservatives that they're willing to vote for people who can't articulate an issue than someone who can articulate sick and wrong. They will be held accountable. And thank God for that.
Now when can we get Northern Virginia to secede from the rest of the state and join DC as the 51st state so that people in DC can actually vote for something in these elections?

The funniest thing was watching Steven Colbert ask Eleanor Holmes Norton whether she thought "not being able to vote as a member of the majority party" was really going to be different than "not being able to vote as a member of the minority party." That alone almost made this whole awful election worthwhile...
Yeah, that was pretty funny...but not as enjoyable as watching Bush's press conference yesterday where, for the first time I can remember, he couldn't be a smug ass. That made it all worthwhile - even if our state didn't help out a damn bit.
I guess it's hard to be smug now that the terrorists have won. ;)
