Learning to fly

I know that IM conversations are never funny to anyone but the people involved, but this one cheered me up something fierce last night as I talked to Hans about the possibility of an NC visit. See if you can guess which line set me off on a 10 minute laughing fit. It's not too hard.

Hans: Silas is making noise about coming down here this weekend - you could just jump in the car with him.
me: That would be two NC weekends in a row, but...
Hans: I think NC would forgive you.
me: I don't know. It got pretty mad the last time.
Hans: Yeah, but then it got really stoned and forgot about it.
me: True.
Hans: How are you getting to Winston?
me: Flying
Hans: Boy, your arms are gonna get tired!
me: Not really. I bought a plane ticket, and when they get really high, I'll just jump out and glide all the way to Winston.
Hans: Even so, it's easy to underestimate how much arm strength is required for gliding. You should practice by holding paint cans with arms outstretched for ten hours a day every day until then.
me: Good thinking! Do you have a couple of paint cans I can borrow?
Hans: Sorry, I think I just drank the last one
me: That's okay. I think I'll be set for the flight. I'll just wing it.
Hans: Oh, boy.
me: Yeah. I'm sorry.

I think I still have a printout of you and Han's fear no boll weevil conversation a few years ago. It was so funny I had it posted on my office wall for a few years.

Whats this about coming to NC two weeks in a row? Don't make me have to kick your butt!
