Worst. Deal. Ever.

Outside the Subway on M St. between 20th and 21st, there's a sign that advertises the worst lunch deal anywhere ever. As with all advertising, there are three levels to this sign: 1) That's a pretty good deal! 2) I knew there had to be a catch, and 3) WHAT?!

See for yourself:

You probably think you're pretty clever by pointing out that the deal is probably for those people that are in between the reponsible (bring their lunch) and me (eat every single meal out), so that they can get a cheap sandwich in the morning and then eat it at lunch time. But what about the drink, cleverpants?! WHAT?! ABOUT?! THE DRINK?!! Sure you have a two dollar sandwich, but you have to wash it down with a drink that's flat and/or watered down because you had to buy it hours before you were going to eat it.

There's another possibility that this deal exists, one almost too terrifying to actually think about, one that's given credence by this Subway's 7:00 am opening time: that people are eating lunch-style sandwiches for breakfast. Not egg and cheese sandwiches, but meat-lettuce-tomato sandwiches. I don't even want to think about that.

Or, that they have the deal so they can get rid of their old meat, cheese, and coke. All of which you can have for breakfast. Mmmmmmmmmm....

people eat pancakes for lunch or dinner. why not have a turkey sandwich for breakfast?
also, this deal might be appealing to folks like firemen, policemen, doctors, nurses, phone-sex operators, factory workers or any other people who might work a third shift, and are getting off work at 7 or 8 am. They're eating what they call "dinner" because they've already been up for 10 or more hours.
